Michigan Republicans aren’t just “playing games” trying to win elections.
They are committing fraud, turning voters away at the polls, and the Republican legislature is passing election “reform” bills specifically targeted to disenfranchise Democratic voters.
And it doesn’t stop there…
Republican Speaker Jase Bolger and now-Republican Rep. Roy Schmidt were found to have lied and conspired to commit election fraud in Schmidt’s party switching debacle in Grand Rapids. Both have admitted to wrongdoing, but both have refused to resign.
The Republican Kent County Prosecutor called their actions a “travesty” and claimed he wasn’t able to prosecute them under current law, but it has now come out that he cut the State Police investigation short by saying he wouldn’t be authorizing any charges and three outstanding warrants to gather more information were cancelled.
Now we’ve learned that Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson’s office refused to turn over key evidence proving that Rep. Schmidt knew Matt Mojzak, the fake Democrat he recruited to run in his seat, who Schmidt denied knowing in the days after the story broke.
The Republican Chair of the House Committee on Oversight, Reform and Ethics, Tom McMillan, is refusing to investigate whether or not Bolger and Schmidt violated any House rules even after they’ve both admitted wrongdoing and now Republican Secretary of State Johnson is trying to drag out her investigation on potential campaign finance laws that were violated.
Or here…
Michigan Republican are taking a page from Republicans in Pennsylvania who bragged about passing a voter ID law to suppress the votes of enough people “to allow Romney” to win their state.
The House Republicans passed a sweeping package of voter suppression bills that will disenfranchise voters they think are more likely to vote Democratic across Michigan.
Or with members of our armed forces…
Secretary Johnson’s office is under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for failing to provide absentee ballots to military and overseas voters. At the same time, she is defying Governor Snyder’s veto and demanding unnecessary information at the polls and turning voters away who actually know the law.
Johnson’s outrageous disregard for the law is just one the flagrant attempts by Michigan Republicans to stack the deck in their favor this fall.
Voters in Michigan are sick of these “win at all costs” tactics and the Republicans’ attempts to silence anyone who opposes them.
Please help send a message to Michigan Republicans that you won’t stand for them trying to rob you of a fair election.
